Clink Restaurant, Brixton Prison

The Clink Restaurant ia a charity funded operation designed to represent a genuine opportunity to offer offenders the chance to gain skills within food preparation, service and cleaning opportunities within the hospitality industry which offer guidance upon release, this purpose is to offer offenders the chance to find full time employment after release and slash reoffending rates.

The Project was presented to Task by Knightsbridge Property Services, the project was a complete strip out back to core, a Complete installation over 3 floors.

Restaurant, Kitchen, Office area and Five number Meeting Rooms.

The Main challenge of this project to all trades and management was that communication was at a minimum, with no internet for E-mailing, Mobile Phones and even a land line to make any communication to the outside world , this meant that good planning and management was necessary for the job to progress at a constant rate so that all trades could work together and ensuring a good work flow.

The Clink was a 5 star Luxury Restaurant which had all the latest designs to capture even the most laid back of imaginations, this was mainly captured through the intelligent lighting through the use of lutron systems opperating all lighting throughout all three levels, with different scenes and modes, the lighting was programed to take control to offer the best moods for any time of the day and night to create a relaxed mood.

Audio Visual was also a large remit of this project offering audio systems throughout the restaurant which could be controlled through one system back at a central location for ease of use.

Due to the High spec of the restaurant every area become critical as not only a restaurant but for business options, meeting and conference area’s were created, there is the option of five meeting rooms all at high spec to create a relaxed atmosphere.

The restaurant also had an side/onsite kitchen on the third floor, an office area and fully working coffee bar.

The main Kitchen was separate to the clink and a link corridor was created between the clink and the main prison, Task Electrical were asked to adapt the current kitchen which was designed as a bakery originally to allow a full working Kitchen adapted to feed up to two hundred people for food preparation for the clink.

This was a high spec fit out and Task Electrical were glad to be apart of a team that succesfully completed the Installation alongside Knightsbridge Building Services.
